Biography
Professor Cláudio Tadeu Daniel-Ribeiro (MD, DSc) is the Head of the Malaria Research Laboratory at the Instituto Oswaldo Cruz (IOC) and of the National Reference Center for Malaria at the Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz), Full Researcher and Professor at Fiocruz and at the Brazilian National Research Council (CNPq); Academician of the Brazilian and French National Academies of Medicine. He is former Director of the IOC (1993-1994), Fiocruz and former Professor (1997-1998) of the Faculté de Médecine Pitié-Salpétrière (Univ. Paris VI) as well as past-President of the International Federation for Tropical Medicine (2012-12016). He received the Sendas Prize (Brazil, 1997) and the Médaille de la Société Française de Médecine Tropicale (France, 2016) and has been named Chevalier des Palmes Académiques (France, 2013) and Doutor Honoris Causa of the Universidade de Nova Lisboa (Portugal, 2016). He holds interest in the immunology and immunopathology of malaria, and has published over 190 scientific articles (134 ISI indexed), including five thesis, five book chapters and two books.
